Summer Time 2016 - Trips!

Goodbye 6th grade! It was a good year but we were ready to hit the road, as usual. We had several great, smaller trips this summer. We went to Stone Mountain for a few days camping, took a big road trip to WVA/DC/VA, and another week at the end of the summer camping at Ft. Clinch. We get a lot of use out of our camper - our hotel on wheels!

Below are some pictures from our adventures.

Stone Mountain Camping (back to top)

We always "get out of dodge" within a day of school getting out - we're all usually ready for a break. This year, we took a few days and headed up to Stone Mountain, GA. We had a great campsite by the lake. We fished, and went out on a row boat (and almost got caught in a storm). We also went to see the Stone Mountain laser light show/fireworks which was fun. To break from our "outdoorsie" time, we did a day at 6 Flags Over Georgia. We had to board Forrest for the day - which stunk, but other than that, it was a super fun day.

Summer Road Trip (DC, WVA, VA) (back to top)

Our big summer trip this year had us travelling the East Coast, visiting WVA/VA family and four days in Washington DC. We stopped at a few different stop overs on the way up and back to break up the trip. In Washington DC, we visited lots of museums and monuments and took a tour of the Capitol (arranged through Congressman Mica's office). We also visited the Zoo. Great trip!

Fort Clinch Camping Trip (back to top)

Fort Clinch was our end of summer trip before school started back. We love it at this park. We are able to fish from the shore, go to the beach, mountain bike (surprisingly good trails for FL), and collect shark teeth (we found almost 100). We had a little scare early on with a tornado warning but fortunately it passed and the rest of the week was great ... hot, but great!

Carla's Birthday (back to top)

This year's birthday was fun. For the first time, we went to Disney's Night of Joy. They had great Christian music in various venues - great night!

20th Wedding Anniversary Cruise Trip (back to top)

We hit the BIG 20 this year and decided to celebrate with a 4 day cruise without the kiddos. Aunt Bunny came to man the homefront so we could get away for a few days of no responsibility! Here's to the next 20!
